Massimo Dutti is not an Italian house
The name suggests Milan; the company is Spanish. Massimo Dutti belongs to Inditex, the Galicia-based group that also owns Zara. It is one of the more persistent misreadings in fashion, and it matters, because people pay a premium for what they take to be Italian production.
Ownership here is well documented — the group states its brands itself. The interesting question is a different one: what does Inditex actually publish about where its clothes are made?
A disclosure that stops one step short
Inditex publishes the list of wet-process facilities — dyeing, tanning, washing, printing — which are the environmentally heaviest steps in textile production. That is real disclosure, and more than many competitors offer.
What it does not publish is a full public factory list. The complete supply chain goes to IndustriALL Global Union, a trade union federation, rather than to the public. That is a defensible arrangement and it is not nothing — but it is not the same as a list you can open yourself, and our directory records the difference rather than filing every large group under one label.
