Present, but invisible
On 30 July 2026 we opened the page for the Mini Antigona in aged leather, $2,300, article BB50TNB1QA105. The material detail is unusually precise: “100% calfskin leather. Lining: 90% cotton, 10% polyester. Metal parts: 100% brass.”
A country of manufacture appears in no sentence. In the page source, in the structured product data, sits countryOfOrigin: “Italy”. The information is recorded, maintained and served — it simply never reaches anyone who merely reads the page.
Having the information and not showing it is a different decision from not having it.
Why this is not a detail
Search engines and price comparison services read exactly this structured data. There the statement serves its purpose. For the person in front of the screen it does not exist.
Other houses in the same group show it can be done differently. Dior writes “Made in Italy” into the running text, Kenzo “Made in Portugal”, Berluti carries an “Origin” line in its technical details. Givenchy holds the same information and does not display it.
House and owner
Hubert de Givenchy founded the house in Paris in 1952. It has belonged to LVMH since 1988. It is known for the Antigona bag and for the little black dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961.
Creative direction is held by Sarah Burton, announced in September 2024, first collection in March 2025.
What stays open
We found no supplier list.
Two pages would have been the obvious places — one on the California supply chain act, one on product-level traceability. Both stayed closed to us. Whether anything lies behind them we do not know.
